Selecting a Periodontist

Often times, patients are referred to a periodontist from the dentist they are regularly seeing.  However, you do not have to already have a dentist or need a referral to be seen by a periodontist, particularly if you are missing teeth and, or you suspect that you may already have gum disease.   Besides dentist referrals, referrals from friends, family members and other patients are a great way to find a periodontist you are comfortable with.    If you have dental insurance, you may also want to check with your insurance provider to determine which periodontists accept your particular insurance plan.
